Insurance for a foreign worker

Health insurance for working foreigners.

Any foreigner coming to Poland or another Schengen country to work must have valid health insurance. This is a necessary condition, both to ensure access to medical care and in the context of legalizing their stay. This applies both to employees working under a contract of employment, commission, as well as those running a business. Insurance for a foreigner working in Poland is not only an administrative requirement, but also a real health and financial protection.

Who must have health insurance?

Under current regulations, people legally employed in Poland are usually covered by the public health insurance system of the National Health Fund. This applies to employees, contractors, people running their own business whether registered as unemployed.
However, there is still a group of foreigners who are not automatically covered - for example, those working under a contract for work, awaiting a decision on a work permit or just beginning their stay in Poland. For them, the recommended and often required solution is to purchase private health insurance.
